Yes, I’m bragging.

March 1, 2009 : Randomness

I’m going to take one whole selfish blog post to brag about my daughter for a minute.  Bear with me. ;)   I’m just so proud of her that I can’t keep quiet any longer.  I’ve never in my life met anyone so determined, committed, and talented as this little firecracker.  She never ceases to amaze me.  She’s a straight “A” student who truly LOVES school.  She fills our home with beautiful piano music every day.  She loves to meet new people and dearly treasures those in her life (especially the animal kind.)  She’s the best big sissy ever, and has already taught her 3-year old brother to clearly write his name and color “in the lines.”  And among a million other things, she loves sports.  You name the sport … she loves it.

This year she decided to try gymnastics.  Over the past 4 months it has quickly become her favorite sport.  Trust me, making the “favorite” for her is no easy task (soccer and basketball are fighting for the top spot.)  My husband and I agreed to give gymnastics a try thinking that it would be fun for awhile, but probably not something she’d really enjoy.  She’s always been a bit more “rumble, tumble” and less graceful.  Never in a million years did I think she’d fall in love with the sport, and be competing against (and placing higher than) girls on other teams who have been practicing for years.  She’s amazing out there.  Mom and dad are so proud.

Here are a few shots from her floor routine this past weekend.  She brought home two 3rd place ribbons, a 5th place and a 7th place ribbon.  :)

Brag over.  Thanks for bearing with me.

Aunt Jenn : Awesome Reese...We're proud of you too! 03-01-09
Rebeca Kelly : Jess, you truly have several reasons to brag about her :) Congratulations for bringing up such a beautiful soul. And yes, gymnastics rock (obviously I am an ex-gymnast my self)! Keep up with the work Reese :) 03-01-09
Vickie : How awesome. Reese you are one very special young lady! Jess you too, you are such a good momma! 03-01-09

Kim : How awesome!!!!!!! You should be proud. Must be in the name...we HAVE to get together with the kids sometime. Your Reese sounds like my Reese just a few years older :-) 03-01-09
Heather : Way to go Reese! Ya know Jess I have to agree with everything you said about your daughter...just from having her a year in school I could tell that she was a determined, talented little girl! She was always so happy and willing to help out. You have every right to brag about her. 03-01-09

Elise : Jess... I'm not surprised. She has inherited her creativity, her patience, her determination to accomplish what she sets out to do, her kindness with people, (?) her atheletic ability, and whatever else from you. That much I have learned about you during a few contacts. The rest comes from dad, right? You two parenting in the right way, of course, has a little to do with it. A winning combination! Keep up the good work, all of you! 03-02-09
Elise : Of course I meant that your parenting has a little (=a lot) to do with it also. 03-02-09
